Review: Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow

I had always lusted over Benefit's cosmetics- their lovely products encased within eclectic yet pretty packaging always drew my eye. The more I heard and read about Benefit, the more I wanted their gorgeous makeup. But there was just one huge obstacle that stopped me from purchasing anything, and that was its price. Absolutely absurd prices were slapped onto all its makeup instore, which was a huge deterrent (eg. a boxed blush was $52!). However a cousin of mine from the UK was visiting and was able to get some Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows for me, and I am now in possession of three shades "No Pressure", "Skinny Jeans" and "Bronze Have More Fun".

Gorgeous cardboard packaging

The little pots of cream eyeshadow in a sturdy tart-shaped glass topped with a lid that resembles the casing for the "tart" deserves a 5/5 for packaging. I chose these three shades as I thought I would get the most use out of them, and I absolutely love nudes. I avoided the popular shade "Birthday Suit" as I decided that it would not show up well on my skin, and quote Lena from sleepandwater, "it's barely visible and very underwhelming" when on the eyelid.

Clockwise from top left: No Pressure, Bronze Have More Fun, Skinny Jeans

The Creaseless Cream Shadows are Benefit's award winning crease-proof and budge-proof eyeshadows which glide on smoothly, and can be used with the fingertips for a soft wash of colour, or with a brush to build up intensity. The first time I tried these shadows, it was nothing like I had tried before! Its super buttery texture paired with an effortless application definitely makes these my favourite cream eyeshadows- these are heaven in comparison to my Maybelline Bad To The Bronze (despite loving this cream eyeshadow for ages, it has failed me by hardening a little...). The colour payoff was amazing and of the three, I can safely say that No Pressure is my favourite. Bronze Have More Fun disappointed me a little- it felt more greasy than the other two shades, and if you look carefully, its swatch is a little patchy too. I found it a little strange that the different shades could have different textures, but I'm hoping it'll improve the more I use it!

Single swipe L-R: No Pressure, Bronze Have More Fun, Skinny Jeans
Favourite shade!
The Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows are a joy to use and there is no doubt that its pretty packaging contributes to this as well. I highly recommend giving these cream eyeshadows a swatch, I guarantee you will fall in love with its butteriness! Its longevity was amazing, and definitely lives up to its crease-proof and budge-proof claims. If I were to add another one to this collection, I would probably go for My Two Cents, but I might hold off for now. A little off topic, but sorry again for not regularly posting! I have been on a summer placement at a hospital for past few weeks, and in another two weeks time, I am on a rural placement. Hopefully after all this I can get back into blogging again :)

Have you tried Benefit's Creaseless Cream Shadows before? What is your favourite shade?

  2. The packaging is so pretty! I've always avoided cream shadows because of my oily lids, but I'll check this out. Thanks for the review :)

    1. The packaging is super pretty, and definitely don't avoid these because you have oily lids (I have them too!). They stay on really well and are so easy to apply :)

  3. Love the buttery texture from these creaseless shadows, however contrary to the name, these crease on me :( How pretty is 'no pressure'! I picked up the sample sized version in my last haul and I really like it! Hope you're enjoying placement :)

    1. I adore the buttery texture! Oh no, that's no good that it creases on you, do you use an eye primer beforehand too? No Pressure is my favourite out of them :D

  4. No Pressure looks gorgeous!!!

I own three creaseless shadows (in their old packaging): Birthday Suit, RSVP, & Skinny Jeans. Birthday Suit is my favorite.

    1. I was thinking so hard if I wanted Birthday Suit and RSVP, but I decided against them because I convinced myself that some of the shadows I have in my Urban Decay Naked 1 palette would make do!

  5. Looks and sounds awesome, I too have stopped many many times because of their crazy sky high prices! It's also quite marked up here at Sephora so I personally haven't bought anything from them! I really like No pressure and Skinny jeans would be great as a smokey eye base!

    1. The prices can be nearly ridiculous, it'll only be okay if you bought them in the US! They are perfect for a smokey base which I love :)

  6. These look incredibly smooth.
I'm really taken on "Bronze Have More Fun" (which I just now get, hoho).
It looks so regal and silky, you know.

    1. I love how Birthday Suit swatches but the only reason I didn't get it was that it probably wouldn't show up on my eyelids very well, especially seeing as I have glasses :P Definitely try No Pressure, it's beautiful!

  9. no pressure and bronze have more fun are gorgeous and I am a fan of benefit packaging! I have birthday suit and my two scent, both I like but not love. i agree with you that they have gorgeous texture but they kind of too 'mousey' they crease on my lids despite of the creaseless name!

    1. Aww no that's no good that they crease on you, what eye primer do you use? No Pressure is such a huge favourite of mine, it's so versatile :)

  11. Lol Birthday Suit has its fans, but I dunno, especially if you wear glasses it's not an ideal pick. I hope you get to try it one day anyway so you can validate my opinion (or reject it completely, both are fine by me :p). I actually really wanted to get No Pressure after swatching it from one of the Benefit eyeshadow boxed sets, but I went with another boxed set that had My Two Cents and Birthday Suit in it instead. I was thinking of picking up the full size in No Pressure - but clearly not at extortionate AUD prices!

    1. Birthday Suit is such a pretty shade, but I definitely can see how it might not show up on my lids very well especially with glasses. I might give it a proper trial on my eyes sometime but I think these three I have will make do for now! I saw that post of yours with the boxed set, and I actually purchased it for a friend for Christmas :) I'm really loving No Pressure though, give it a go!

  12. oh my gosh! Drooling at the colour of "no pressure"!! I've never really noticed Benefit eyeshadows before, I was always blinded by all the raves on their boxed blushes/bronzers and their mascaras, I'm so out of it... but wow the packaging for the cream shadows are absolutely gorgeous. I dont think I want to know the prices for those in Australia, most likely will do some benefit window shopping online haha :)

    1. The Benefit cream eyeshadows are so pretty and amazing to apply! Haha I definitely can see how you are blinded by all the rest of the othe rBenefit products that are being raved about, especially their mascaras and blushes! The online prices are US prices which is far more cheaper than they sell here in Australia, so sad!

  17. Man, that packaging!! ;____; It's so pretty! No Pressure definitely looks like a beautiful color, is it a pinky kind of shade? Swatched it looks like a nude color, but in the jar it reminds me of Stila's Kitten shadow a bit. I love shimmering colors, these look fantastic. ^__^ Hope you do a look with them soon, would love to see what you come up with. <3
