Review: Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm

Monkey see, monkey do. Isn't it always like that in the beauty world? This time it's the popular Nuxe Reve De Miel Lip Balm which I emptied my wallet for. I purchased this from the UK online store Escentual before Nuxe was available in Priceline. Declaring itself as a "cult" and "ultra-nourishing" lip balm are huge claims, as well as boasting about how one Reve De Miel Lip Balm is sold every 28 seconds across the world. So does this luxurious lip balm live up to its hype?

Housed in a solid luxurious glass jar, the Reve De Miel Lip Balm presents itself well. Retailing at $19.95 in Australia, it is by no means an affordable product to have- but perhaps a great product for those who really love their lip products (me!) and as a nice little gift. Nuxe describes the Reve De Miel Lip Balm as a repairing, nourishing lip balm with a rich, delicious texture that can restore suppleness and comfort to dry and chapped lips. As an avid lip balm user, I was keen to see how this matched up to its claims.

Tested in the Canadian cold? It should definitely survive in the Melbourne cold then!

The Reve De Miel Lip Balm presents as a golden paste which is thick with a slight grainy texture- it is  something that isn't like your regular lip balms. I love this texture as it isn't greasy and stays on the lips for a long time without wearing off (pawpaw ointments, I'm staring at you). The scent is very fresh, and smells like orange peel mixed in with a little honey- strange I know, but it does work! It feels very nice on the lips as it has a matte finish and sits very well, making it perfect for using as a base underneath lipstick.

I love to lather this onto my lips before bed as a nice sumptuous lip treatment which is such a treat. Hey, it's the little things in life that makes us happy, right? Understandably the jar form makes it "unhygienic", however this isn't much of an issue for me as I only keep it by my bedside table to use. I personally wouldn't take the Reve De Miel Lip Balm in my hand bag as it isn't the most convenient of lip balms, but by all means feel free to take it away travelling if you like!

The final verdict? I love this lip balm!  Although it hasn't reached "holy grail" status, that's reserved for another lip balm which I will review sometime in the future (and with my sporadic blogging habits, who knows when that'll be). The Reve De Miel Lip Balm is definitely worth a try if you are a lip balm lover or are looking for a nice lip treatment to use under lipstick or just to treat your lips.

Have you tried the Nuxe Reve De Miel Lip Balm before?

  1. Sounds awesome, I'm glad it's been a good one for you! I really need good lip treatments because my lips get super dry very often! I will likely check this out when the summer sales roll into store! Oh and BTW, I'm not sure if you've noticed but your photos are extremely blurry, you may have accidentally uploaded them as small and now as larger when we view they are super blurry!

    1. Yes it's a really nice lip treatment, just a little expensive though :P Hmm I've had a few issues with the photos on my blog so I'll see if I can get it checked out :) I am using a new camera though and am trialling new ways to focus on objects so perhaps that's why it looks blurry!

    2. Hey, thanks for dropping by earlier! Yes I do have a facebook! I go by 'Sharlynn Ng (jia-lin)', I'm not sure if I'll be able to see you as I'm currently getting some work before further studies but I will let you know! I'm sure you'll enjoy your holiday when you're here! And the photos aren't out of focus because of your photo taking skills, if you click on them individually they're small and super clear! But as seen on the post, they're very pixelated due to stretching! Do take a look! ^^ And do add me on fb!

    3. Cool I just added you :D That is fine, I don't think I'll be in Singapore for long anyway! Hmm that is so strange about the photos, I've checked on 3 different web browsers and they look fine on my computer! I might need to get an I.T savvy friend to check it up for me :)

  4. Thanks for the review, Karen!
I have been wanting to try this one and this review comes right in time as I just used up my EOS lip balm! but the pot packaging is not really my thing as I hate dipping my fingers into anything... Hmm maybe nuxe has a stick form of this lip balm? i will check it out! :-D

    1. What a coincidence! I have a couple of EOS balms but don't find them to be very moisturising, but they do smell and look really good :P Definitely understand the pot form- not many people like it because of hygiene. I think Nuxe do have a stick form of this lip balm but I've heard that it isn't the same formula as the one in the jar!

  5. I love this lip balm! It's HG status for me! I'll be interested to know what your HG lip balm is!
The pot doesn't worry me too much, but I think they should create a stick version so I can pop it in my hand bag!

    1. They do have a stick version but I've heard that it isn't the same as this one in the jar- apparently it isn't as moisturising! You will hopefully find out my HG lip balm soon! ;)

  6. I recently just purchased this lip balm after being a skeptical myself about how good it is (and that price tag too!) But I am so happy I finally purchased it as it is one of the best I've used and truly worth the price tag! I also use this as a nice little treat on my lips before bed, perfect for the colder months coming up! Great review!

  7. Ooh, this is the first I've heard of this lip balm. It sounds so luxurious for the lips! I avidly use Rosebud Perfume Co.'s Strawberry Lip balm. I really love it and for $7 USD .0.8 oz has lasted me a very long time! It's soft, moisturizing and not very sticky or greasy as long as you use a light layer. I love putting this stuff on at night before bed. I wake up with plump, soft and moisturized lips! ^__^b

    1. I haven't heard of that lip balm before, but it sounds really nice! I might have to have a look into it and see where I can get it from :) There is nothing better than waking up with plump soft lips!

  8. As a chronic dry lips sufferer I've been looking for the perfect lipbalm and I have still yet to find it *sigh* I've tried and tested so many and none are to my liking. I've just recently purchased the pawpaw ointment and yes, as you stated above it doesn't stay on for long T.T
How does the nuxe look when applied onto the lips ? eg. If i applied this and went out would it be obvious?

    1. I'm not a fan of the pawpaw ointment! I used to love it and always use it, but over time I realised it really didn't do much to my lips and I had to keep reapplying it! Definitely try the Nuxe if you want to fork out a bit of money, it applies really nicely and it doesn't appear on the lips! It doesn't look greasy too :) My holy grail is the brand Lanolips, you should give it a go as it is excellent!

I'll be definitely checking out Lanolips!

  10. Hmmm...interesting. Honestly, I have heard so much about this and many of them have liked it. I guess this is the time to try it out after I have finished with my EOS one.

    1. It's definitely in a different boat to the EOS- the EOS is just your regular lip balm like Chapstick etc, and doesn't really moisturise too well! The Reve De Miel is amazing and doesn't wear off very quickly like the other lip balms do :)

  11. Thanks for the review! I've never tried it before. I wanted to before I found my HG lip balm: Burts Bees Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm.

    1. I love Burt's Bees lip balms! They are so cute and convenient, and they don't contain petrolatum which doesn't moisturise/hydrate the lips. I love the Nuxe Reve De Miel as a night time lip balm as it can be slathered on as a nice treatment :)

  12. I have been eyeing this lip balm for the longest time! EVERY time I go to Priceline (best place or WHAT!), I have to open the tester and poke my finger in there hahah I will definitely be getting this some time soon :) Thanks for the review Karen!

    1. Aww that's such a shame it didn't work for you! I can imagine how it can't work for some though, it's texture is quite unique and unlike most other lip balms. I just love how gorgeous it is in the glass jar and its fresh citrus scent!

  23. Under the law, some of the products commonly referred to as "personal care products" are cosmetics. These include, for example, skin moisturizers, perfumes, lipsticks, fingernail polishes, eye and facial makeup preparations, shampoos, permanent waves, hair colors, toothpastes, and deodorants.
