Skincare SOS

Winter has been wreaking havoc on my skin, causing it to be dehydrated, red and sensitive. I have found a combination of a few certain products have always ensured my skin stayed its best in the cooler months without flaring up, with most being in my holy grail of skincare.

First off, I absolutely love using the Sanctuary Spa Ultimate Facial Cleansing Oil for removing my makeup as it removes every single trace with no residue at all. It is very gentle yet deeply cleanses the skin from all dirt and stubborn makeup without irritating the skin. Next I use the Bioderma Sensibio H20 as a toner to prepare my skin for moisturising, and to pick up anything that the cleansing oil may have missed.

I love spritzing my face with the La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water (which I interchange with the Avene Thermal Spring Water) after cleansing to further soothe my skin and really, just because it feels refreshing! The slight dampness of my skin ensures that the Trilogy Rosehip Oil  (I also use the Antioxidant+ version) is applied more easily. Rosehip oil does wonders for the skin; it hydrates with omega 3, 6 and 9 and evens out the skintone. It is an utter necessity for my skincare routine! Lastly I slather on some La Roche-Posay Toleraine Soothing Protective Skincare which is perfect for skin which feels tight and intolerant, especially in this weather. This moisturiser is very basic as it limits the amount of ingredients to avoid allergy risks, and is fragrance-free, preservative-free, paraben-free and non-comedogenic. Usually I would use a thicker moisturiser, or one packed with more capabilities but when my skin is suffering, I like to stick to the safe options to allow it to return to normal.

Review: Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+

The colder months are arriving soon, and even though it means hot chocolates, sitting in front of a fireplace (or in my case, a small electric heater) and snuggling up in bed- the harsh winds and cold weather really plays havoc with your skin. Having dry skin myself that tends to be tight and flaky at times, I really need a solution. I have been in love with rosehip oils since I first tried the Rose-Hip Vital Australian Certified Organic Cold Pressed Rosehip Oil and when it ran out, I decided to try the popular Trilogy rosehip oils. After contemplating whether I should buy the original Certified Organic Rosehip Oil or the advanced formula Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+, I decided on the latter. A few extra antioxidants won't hurt after all!

If you are a stranger to rosehip oil, you are missing out on a lot! Rosehip's potent oil is great for scars, stretch marks, ageing and dehydrated skin, and for making skin soft and supple. And for those afraid of an oil clogging up their pores and making them break out- rosehip oil doesn't do this! The Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+ , retailing at $29.95, has super antioxidants lycopene and phytosterol in addition to the organic rosehip oil. Trilogy claims that it improves brightening, skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles, elasticity and firmness- phew, what a whole lot of claims! I was quite excited to try this especially after reading all the benefits it will have on my skin.

First thing I noticed was that it didn't have any noticeable scent, which was a surprise as rosehip oil normally has a unique fragrance! After cleansing I usually apply a few drops on my damp skin, in particular the cheeks and chin, a tiny bit on my forehead and neck. I absolutely love it as it instantly makes my dry, tight skin feel moisturised and protected, as well as super soft. I allow the oil to sink into my skin and doesn't leave a greasy residue which is great! I finish my face routine by applying moisturiser and an eye cream on top for extra hydration.

I usually have flaky dry skin but after introducing rosehip oil to my routine it has improved dramatically! In terms of brightening and skintone, I haven't noticed much of a difference, however my skin has definitely been feeling firmer and softer. I think rosehip oil will be great for everyone and is quite inexpensive in comparison to facial serums on the market who offer the same benefits!

My only qualms about the Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+ is that the oil sometimes leaks from the dropper, but I think I may have a faulty one as Trilogy has been known for producing great droppers. Besides that, this is an amazing treatment you can use on your face that is organic and free from chemicals, providing hydration and suppleness to the skin. I will happily repurchase this as it has been a life saviour for my skin.

Review: Rose-Hip Vital Australian Certified Organic Cold Pressed Rosehip Oil

Rosehip oil! It's been all the hype lately and I have been very eager to try it. There are heaps of brands out there- Trilogy, Kosmea, Sukin, just to name a few. I've been meaning to buy the Trilogy one but when I was at work, there was a new order, and I found this! 30mL of organic rosehip goodness for RRP $19.99 (and $15 with my 25% discount at the pharmacy!). The Trilogy is only 20mL for the same price (although it's RRP everywhere else is $21.95 instead of $19.99). I was quite excited to give this a go!

Such lovely packaging! If you read the claims, the product sounds absolutely amazing! Organic, cold pressed, and 100% rosehip oil. Definitely getting a tick in my books! Here is a little description from its website:

Cute little bottle :)

A nice easy to use dropper
First thing I noticed was its scent. It isn't strong, but I didn't particularly like it. I've tried the Trilogy rosehip oils (the ordinary one and the one with antioxidants- hehe such pretty packaging!) and it didn't notice any scent so this is probably the only downfall to the Rose-Hip Vital rosehip oil.

One drop of rosehip oil goes a long way! It absorbed right into my skin which is great. Those worried about breaking out from the "oil" need not fear, as it doesn't cause acne or pimples at all, which I attribute to the natural oil. Definitely very happy with the product, apart from the subtle scent which I personally didn't like.

I've been testing and trying all sorts of different things on my dry and parched skin on my face, and I will make a post about it sometime! Stay tuned ;)

Any one interested in rosehip oil? Have you tried any of the other brands, and what did you think?
